Muskuloskeletal disorders (MSD) have a major impact on society, enterprises and on individuals. MSD lead to absenteeism and reduce productivity and affect private companies as well as public services. The economic burden associated with the disease is immense.
MSD have multiple causes. They are associated with working and living conditions, individual characteristics and socio-economic status. Health intervention strategies must therefore be based on a multi-disciplinary approach, emphasizing prevention, health promotion and return to work strategies. The study will look into the most successful workplace health strategies to tackle MSD and will identify instruments to measure the impact of these strategies. Also the impact of the cultural vision like the shift from ‘Prevention of Musculoskeletal Disorders’ to ‘Promotion of Musculoskeletal Health’ will be evaluated.
