Ebola: Safe working practices

During the last meeting of the PEROSH Scientific Steering Group in Buxton, a most interesting  presentation was given by Brian Crook, microbiologist at HSE, on his work in Sierra Leone in an Ebola diagnostic laboratory. The work led to crucial insights regarding the last line of defence health care workers have in dealing with patients with suspected high consequence infectious diseases: … their personal protective equipment. Please have a look at an interview with Brian Crook and some additional information on the use of ultraviolet- fluorescence based simulation in evaluation of personal protective equipment for health care workers.
